Roberto Lara is the founder and managing partner of Lara & Davis LLP. Mr. Lara focuses on all aspects of complex civil litigation including the trial of business and real property disputes, non-profit corporate law, and probate and trust matters. He has litigated cases throughout California. Mr. Lara also has significant experience in representing a wide variety of individuals and family-owned businesses in estate planning matters.
In addition to an active law practice, Mr. Lara has contributed to the community by creating several non-profit corporations and has served as a founding board member for many local non-profits. He has served as a founding board member to Endeavor College Preparatory Charter School and the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust. He is a former member of the Advisory Board for the Orange County Business Litigation Section and a former member of the board of directors for Central City Neighborhood Partners. Mr. Lara is also the co-author of "Appraisers as Expert Witnesses: What Makes Them So Special?" published in the Journal of the International Right of Way Association.
Mr. Lara earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Stanford University in 1992. He was the recipient of the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. Mr. Lara also attended the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile in 1991. Mr. Lara is fluent in Spanish.
Mr. Lara earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1997. At Hastings, he participated in an externship with the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office where he conducted preliminary hearings. Mr. Lara also participated in the Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation.
Mr. Lara is a member of the State Bar of California. He is admitted to practice before all of the courts in California and the United States District Court for the Central and Southern Districts of California.
